AM:  78F, 73%.  7:50 AP.  Snub day today.  I was probably at an 80% snub rate when I gave up and stopped saying "good morning" to people.  Girl That Looks At Me With Contempt For No Reason was back after a hiatus, and had two friends with her today, who also snubbed me.  Finally the Lorax came riding by and gave me a ding and a wave.

I also have a new nemesis, Shirtless College Kid.  We always pass each other going opposite directions, and after snubbing me, he waits a second, turns around, and mows me down.  Of course this is always in mile 1 or 2 so I'm powerless to respond.  One of these days I'm going to be warmed up and feeling competitive and there will be a showdown.  With my luck he's probably on the XC team at UTSA or something and will defeat me easily, at which point I'll be forced to commit seppuku out of shame, but I've had a good run.

PM:  4 more, same drill as yesterday.  Workout tomorrow.

Your runs are so emotional!

That kids got some big "Cajones" to pass someone in the opposite direction and then intentionally turn around just to pass you! I can't stand that guy!

What kind of a!!!! I can't believe shirtless college kid does that. I would pay to see you take off some day and burn him. I'm with Derunzo. Can't stand the kid.

Shirtless College Kid - We all have our "implied" rivals. I enjoy the plausible deniability of the whole arrangement. You can both deny that competition is officially occurring, but YOU know it, and HE knows it. Someday you are going to take that smug punk out, and I hope it brings life-altering humiliation for him.

OR: (and I just thought of this) you could laugh about it, think to yourself “I was an arrogant kid once, too”, and stick to your training, without trying to prove something to someone who will likely never “get it” anyway…. As I am typing this, I realize how ridiculous this is. Yeah, you’ve got to take that kid down a peg or two.

SBVD is OVERLY friendly when I see him now. Yesterday, he said “Hey!, Looking good!” while I was dying. I’d rather he point at me and laugh, to bring back the competition. Hey, maybe he said that sarcastically. That jerk!

I could've easily overlooked it once, maybe that was just his turnaround...I've done that to people before as they just happened to be at my turnaround point. But it would have to be a huge coincidence and his turnaround is always changing because we're at 3 times now. I don't know when it will happen, but it will happen. I think I tend to invite these things:

I looked at your old post with Army dude & just shared it with a fellow runner at work..... good laughs!

By the way, what ever happened to Slowjoe'sgrl? Did your wife find out about her? Ha ha.....

From SlowJoe on Fri, Jul 25, 2014 at 14:42:38 from 168.215.171.129

Shhh - I tried to erase all the evidence.

I was blogging from Baghdad back then and my wife thought it would be funny to start her own blog and see if I noticed. I think she took it down shortly after I got back to the states so I lost the ability to harass her electronically through FRB.
